Volume Six Celebrates Christmas!

Tomorrow is the last day of 2007. I can't believe this issue actually marks the first full year of having the kids' newsletter online! Kudos to all the students that participated and the parents that encouraged them and commented on their work. A job done with excellence that the rest of us have thoroughly enjoyed. May you be able to look back on these issues years from now with fond memories (scrapbooks anyone?). I look forward to another year of wonderful, interesting, fun representations of the amazing minds of homeschooled students! Have a safe and happy New Years! Volume Five is alive with creatures of all sort !

Bats and buckeyes, pumpkins and princesses are lurking throughout the latest fall edition of the kid's newsletter. Whether apple picking or trick-or-treating, the harvest season was celebrated in a variety of ways. In addition, homeschoolers of every age have displayed quite a bit of talent from jewelry making to garden growing. Candy paintings and pencil drawings give evidence of the giftedness among students. Among this and other things, a birthday party for one student raised more than $1,000 for women and children in the area. Don't miss this issue of the imaginations of homeschoolers !! Summer issue hot off the press - Volume 4

It's been a crazy summer, and busy fall so far. But I finally put the newsletter together and even added an extra blank page at the end (mostly because I couldn't figure out how to delete it). You'll see there's a lot that was happening over the warmer months. The typical five page newsletter is turning into much longer issues full of poems, stories, drawings, and milestones. This issue also includes 4H projects and special summer adventures. The question of the month is, "What interesting, fun, or unusual thing did you see, do, hear, smell, or touch on your summer vacation?" I'm sure you'll enjoy it!! Scroll down and click on the link to access it. Be sure to respond with any comments so that the kids can see how much you admire their work. Have fun!

Valpo Popcorn Fest Parade

Well, it was a challenging, but fun time preparing for the big day. We certainly learned a lot about what to do (and what not to do). Although it was exhausting, it was definitely worth every minute! What a day! We were able to pass out nearly 400 pens with labels advertising this website. Many people seemed very interested. We even got several rounds of applause as we passed by! Looking forward to next year. Hope you can join us!! In the left column are some pictures for you to enjoy.

Homeschoolers are Alive and Well in Northwestern Indiana!!

I have added a list of local groups and organizations at the bottom of this page for those who are new to homeschooling, new to the area, or those who didn't realize how active a place this area is for those who homeschool! If you know of a group or have a group that is not listed, please contact me at ode@comcast.net to let me know, and I will be more than glad to add it. Have fun getting to know your fellow homeschoolers!!

Volume Three is here and now has a Name!

From cicadas to sudoku and everything in between, this latest issue of the newsletter is packed with all kind of fun and interesting things created by kids, for kids. See if you can find the kids as they put on their invisibility cloak and roam around doing wild and wacky things. Congratulations on the many milestones that our wonderful homeschooled kids are reaching - graduation, learning a new skill, conquering a fear, and many other things that give them reason to be proud. Keep sending in those pieces of artwork, poems, stories, puzzles, recipes, jokes, pictures, sports news, crafts, weather reports, and anything else you can think of to add to our hall of fame here. I look forward to hearing from you! (Scroll down and click on the link to see this issue, volume three.)

Spring has sprung, and so has Volume Two!

The talent continues to pour in among homeschooled students of all ages. I am amazed at the creativity displayed here. I hope you had as much fun submitting things as I did viewing them. In this issue we are in the midst of a newsletter naming contest. Also featured are a shoe wearing octopus, cheesecake recipe, lemonade song, fantastical fairy, criminal interview, and much, much more. Sit back and be entertained by a Lego band and learn a little about sugar mapling. Thanks for all your work recently!! Don't forget to see the link below, and click on the "rotate" icon to view it correctly. Otherwise just print as is.
